Natalie Notyag
In my interdisciplinary practice I explore the boundaries of the human inner world through painting and drawing, balancing figurative and abstract art. At the center of my artistic pursuit is the phenomenon of individual withdrawal and attempts to overcome barriers between personalities through non-verbal communication.
The methodology of my work with figurative works is based on a synthesis of traditional painting and performative practices, particularly Japanese Butoh dance. Documenting body movements through videotaping, I transform these moments into pictorial works, creating a bridge between physical action and visual image.

Bio
Natalie Notyag began her artistic journey in early childhood, received her professional education at the Novosibirsk College of Culture and Arts, which laid the foundation for her artistic practice.
A significant period of creative formation (2005-2015) took place in St. Petersburg, where she worked as an artist in the computer games industry. This experience not only sharpened her skills in graphic techniques, but also shaped a special perspective on the interaction of the individual with the surrounding reality.
Returning to Novosibirsk in 2015 was a turning point in her work. This period is marked by active experimentation with various materials and mediums, including work with scenography, which allowed to explore the possibilities of creating an immersive experience for the audience. This was influenced by the experience of founding Shadow Theater.
Since 2021 Natalie has regularly participated in charity auctions, in 2023 she had her first solo exhibition in Novosibirsk, followed by participation in group exhibitions and competitions both in Russia and abroad.
Since May 2024, the artist lives and works in St. Petersburg.

Artist Statement
I am an interdisciplinary artist. My main mediums are painting and graphics. I create figurative painting with elements of abstraction, as well as abstract works.
Exploring the insularity of the individual. Wishing to seep through this thin but insurmountable border of the division of two worlds, I use non-verbal message - intuitive body movements, which are read by another person at the level of instinct, unconsciously. To convey the bodily message I take as a basis the Japanese Butoh dance, where the personality manifests the feeling of the essence of his body in movement. One of the stages of creating my art is videotaping such movements and transferring the still images onto canvases.

How does one's inner world feel in the contemporary world? Like a modern myth. There are no gods, no superheroes that we always look at from the outside. It's the ruler of the shell that comes to the fore. An entity living in the body and commanding fantasy worlds, past and future, thoughts and feelings. Passing through the urban crowd, we do not see these centers of the universe in other individuals, for us they do not exist, there is only the Self.
How is this crowd used in popular culture? As expendable material, because only the protagonist is important. It cultivates cynicism, the inability to love and respect. It fosters spiritual blindness.
My mission is to let people look at their inner world and realize that the same unique world is in every person! So far my tool is metaphorical, abstract images in paintings where the personality tries to break through the shell. In the future - these are installations that give a person the experience of interacting with an art object both individually and in the context of society.
Forcing him to step out of his body and put himself in the place of another. To live through their isolation, to meet with their soul.
